How challenges work in Dota 2
Each Dota 2 challenge is a personal target built from your own recent ranked matches. Queue for ranked on your own, and your result is read from your public match data once the game publishes it.
Before you play
Turn on Expose Public Match Data in Dota 2
Your challenges are read from your public match history, so you cannot connect while this setting is off, and games you play with it off cannot be read. It is off until you turn it on, and it lives inside the Dota 2 game, not on the Steam website.
- Open Dota 2 and go to Settings
- Find Expose Public Match Data under Social and turn it on
- In Zenko, open your Dota 2 page and choose Connect with Steam
Your first challenges appear once 5 of your newest 40 solo ranked matches are counted, each at least 15 minutes long without you leaving. Party ranked, Turbo, unranked games, shorter games and games you left are not counted.
How it works
Connect with Steam
Sign in on Steam so we know which Dota 2 account is yours.
Pick a challenge
Each one is a personal target built from your own recent ranked matches.
Queue for ranked on your own
Play a ranked match solo, as you normally would. You never report a score.
We read the finished match
Your result comes from your public Dota 2 match data once the game publishes it.
Get your result
Meet the target and credits are added to your balance. Miss it and the challenge ends as a loss.
Where your result comes from
Your result comes from your own public Dota 2 match data, the record the game publishes after each match. Signing in with Steam only tells us which account is yours. We only read your matches: we never change anything on your Steam or Dota 2 account, and you never send us a screenshot.
Your ranked match
Played solo on your own account.
Your public match data
Published by Dota 2 after the match ends, while your setting is on.
Your result
Read by Zenko and shown on your challenge.
What counts
Counts
- Ranked matches you queue for solo
- Matches on the Steam account you connected
- Matches you play after the challenge starts
Doesn't count
- Ranked matches you queue for in a party
- Unranked and Turbo games
- Games shorter than 15 minutes
- A match you or another player abandoned
When results appear
Dota 2 publishes each finished match to your public match data a few minutes after it ends, and your result appears once it does. A match that does not count is skipped and does not use up your attempt.
- Your match ends
- Usually about five minutes after your match ends
- Your result appears
